One of our new favourite things
The boyfriend and I have a new favourite thing to do on quiet weekends, there’s a clue in the picture below... yep it’s feeding the ducks! A couple of weekends ago I had lots of work to be doing and little time for fun, but by 3pm on Sunday I’d had enough and needed some fresh air so we decided to go for a little walk. Luckily we live within walking distance of two duck ponds so we took some bread and went down to feed the ducks, it was so nice to be doing something outside and feeding ducks is surprisingly therapeutic. We’re definitely going to make it a regular weekend date.

Gorgeous :) We were at our local park a few weeks ago and there was a sign up saying "don't feed the ducks bread"?! WTF! I think it's because they sell duck food right by the pond and want to make money! I think I always confuse my boyfriend with my weird in depth knowledge about types of duck .... growing up on the Broads I seem to know quite a lot of useless duck facts!

ReplyDeleteJake and I lovee doing this although we don't get the opportunity as often now with living nearer the city.
And btw to answer the comment above its okay to feed ducks bread although only on dry land. Throwing the bread into the water cause it to have some sort of bacterial reaction which is bad for the wildlife...or so I was told by fellow bird watchers :)

DeleteI haven't the ducks for an age, use to be great fun growing up. I know one of the places were we use to regularly go and feed them it's banned completely regardless of it being bread or not, I guess it's for the health reasons.
ReplyDeleteAw feeding the ducks has always been one of my favourite things to do, there's something about a little time with nature that brings us back to ourselves and makes the desk-time more bearable! And ducks laugh you know, so it's impossible not to be happy around them :) Anna x

DeleteAww :) This is lovely. Last time I fed the ducks was with my friend's ADORABLE toddler. I was so glad he was wearing some of those kiddy-rein things; otherwise his overly-enthusiastic hurling of bread may have resulted in him plunging head first into the duckpond. xxx
